About Us
CHPAC opened it's doors in March 2015 when a vision, a plan and a dream came true!
Sarah DuVall Pearson, Artistic Director & Owner started thinking about the performing arts center several years ago when her private vocal studio started growing. Each of her students had different needs. Some students were dancers wanting to strengthen their voices, some were singers wanting to work on technique/breathing and some singers/dancers/actors were preparing for an audition. So why not bring back a school that offered all of these things. There hasn't been anything like it since Triple Threat Performing Arts center which Sarah attended as a teenager! Sarah has been doing theatre since age 6! Starring in roles such as "Tiny Tim"in Scrooge, age 8 at the Youngstown Playhouse in Ohio and "Annie Warbucks" in Annie, age 10 at the Westminster Choir College in Ohio. The best thing her parents did was move to New Jersey in 1985, bringing her closer to the heart of Broadway. Performing in all the High School Spring Musicals, All South Jersey Choir, All State Choir, Spirit of Philadelphia, she then moved to NYC where she was cast as one of the original "singing waitresses" of Ellen's Stardust Diner! Pounding the NYC pavement to be a "Broadway Baby" she traveled with an Off-Broadway show called Pomp Duck & Circumstance (now owned by Cirque Du Soleil) to Germany and Atlanta, GA for the 1996 Summer Olympics, she then moved back to South Jersey and continued performing regionally. Roles like "Eva Peron" in Evita, "Sandy" in Grease, "Velma" in Hairspray, "Diana" in Next to Normal and "Cassie" in A Chorus Line. She most recently performed at the Walnut Street Theatre in Love Story, Good People, Music Man and Elf all while starting her vocal studio. Although performing has always been her passion, she has found teaching just as rewarding. Cherry Hill needed a performing arts facility that teaches all types of the musical theatre world. Using all of her resources, talented friends, family and mentors, she has taken the final steps to bring you an amazing space, filled with positive energy where students can feel secure in who they are or who they want to be in the world! |
